Introduction

In this document we intend to present a succinct description of a Nomos Mix. This is NOT a general purpose mixing network but it is a tailored mix network design for the peculiar needs of the Nomos Project.

The Nomos Mix is a peer-to-peer mix network protocol implemented over a peer-to-peer broadcasting channel. The main purpose of the Nomos Mix is providing privacy for the consensus leaders. That is, the Nomos Mix protocol hides the fact that the leader is sending a leader message (block proposal or selection) and unlinks the leader from the broadcasting message which is sent to the whole network (by the destination mix node).

Assumptions

• We are assuming that there exists a list of public keys of nodes that comprise the Nomos Mix network and it is accessible to all nodes.
• We are assuming that there is a cost associated with joining the Nomos Mix network, that will make sybil attack attempts expensive.
