Context

VAC have a computer lab with the capabilities of running experiments for a big load of nodes (~1000). They have experience measuring work loads and networking conditions. Nomos needs to run behavioral experiments that simulates the usage of the nomos blockchain including:

• Different transactions (mostly spending and transfers)
• Nodes joining and leaving the network
• DA operations
• Broadcasting and blending of proposals

Proposal

Spawn different networks sizes with a percentage of agents that control different sets of nodes and perform different operations.

Experiments spawn with a set of pre-defined accounts and corresponding nodes that the agents controls. Agents operates the network in increasing load scenarios with the objective of measuring different aspects of the network capabilities.

Experiments may run isolated scenarios to focus on specific topics. DA, Blend, Mantle, etc.

Information to extract

DA

• Bandwidth per participating node on:
  • Dispersal
  • Replicaton
  • Sampling (average per blob size)
• Latency per participating node on:
  • Dispersal (+ Replication): How much time from sending blobs till all nodes get a hold on the proper data.
  • Sampling: Average time spent on sampling per blob.

Blend

• Average bandwidth per participating node
• Average latency per proposal
